Family therapy

Family therapy and systemic approach

Systemic family therapy is a specific technique of psychotherapy, which aims to promote exchanges between members of a family.

The therapy should allow members of a family:
* To evolve together towards a more flexible operation,
* To overcome a crisis situation,
* To authorize the individual evolution of each member,
* To find new balances.
This evolution takes into account the events and the life story of the group. During the sessions, the dialogue of the family members with each other and with the therapist helps to understand and solve the problems or difficulties encountered by the family.
Family therapy concerns
- families in crisis: regular disputes, lack of communication, adolescent crisis of a child ...;
- families experiencing upheaval and failing to cope: mourning, separation, serious illness of a family member, drug addiction of a young person ...
The systemic approach differs from other approaches in its understanding of human relationships. Indeed, the person is not the only element analyzed in the process. The psychologist also attaches importance to the various systems of which she is part (family, professional, social, etc.). This person is influenced both by his intentions, those of others, and those of the possibilities of the environment and / or the system. The main idea is that the story of the family acts on the individual. This individual carries with him values, emotions and behaviors carried by the family and this for several generations. In fact, if part of the system does not work well or has problems, it can affect the whole system.
Brief Therapy, or Systemic Short Therapy, is a method of individual, couple or family psychotherapy.
It is above all pragmatic and non-formative. Its objective is the resolution of the problem (s) which brings the person to consultation. And this, as quickly as possible.
It is centered on the present and applies to both those who suffer directly from a problem and the person who suffers from the problem posed by someone around them.
